About
Benefits of Massage:
I believe massage and bodywork are the key to recovery for many types of injuries and pain. Therapeutic massage is my specialty and therefore clients looking for massage focused on relaxation would be best served with another therapist.
Many clients can see meaningful improvements with issues not resolved by other healthcare modalities in that therapeutic massage can break up scar tissue, increase blood circulation to injured muscle and connective tissue, eliminate myofascial trigger points (knots), and increase flexibility and range of motion. Clients suffering from chronic headaches caused by neck tension can find great relief over time with regular visits.
Each of my clients have unique reasons for coming in and I evaluate the big picture including work situations, repetitive strain injuries, postural problems, stress, and client preferences. I can then tailor the bodywork to meet their goals for the session. I may also make suggestions for self-care at home based on my extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology and my continual interest in wellness and nutrition.
I am nationally board certified and have a professional studio in my home just a few blocks from downtown Red Wing
A little about me...
I moved to Red Wing with my partner Earl in 2020 from White Bear Lake where I had my massage practice since 2014. We remodeled the new house to include a professional space on the main floor for massage. I am nationally board certified, I have over 1000 hours in training from CenterPoint Massage & Shiatsu School in St. Louis Park, MN. My technical courses included Swedish, Advanced Swedish, Advanced Therapeutic, Shiatsu Anma, Namikoshi Shiatsu, Hot Stone, Spa & Resort Techniques, Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) Core & Extremities, Thai Yoga Massage, Advanced posterior & anterior therapeutic neck, Hydrotherapy, Aromatherapy, and Special Populations including pregnancy, geriatrics, cancer, and trauma and abuse. Those courses are supported by extensive coursework in anatomy, physiology, pathology and kinesiology. I am also certified in first aid and CPR. For a deeper understanding of eastern styles of medicine and in learning the meridians and accu-pressure points on the body, I studied Foundations of Chinese Medicine. My regular continuing education courses help me to stay informed of current research and techniques for wellness and healing.
I enjoy volunteering at the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, downhill skiing, cooking, bird-watching and astronomy. Before I changed my career to bodywork, the landscaping industry was my focus. I designed gardens, volunteered as a master gardener, and worked as a horticulturist and tree inspector. It is amazing to me after taking my massage coursework and my coursework at the U of M in plant pathology, biochemistry, and plant physiology how many parallels there are at the cellular level. Nature is my biggest passion and grounds my soul.
Earl is a local photographer and together we published a photography book called 'The Eagles of Red Wing'. Our book is sold at Red Wing Arts, Fair Trade Books, and The National Eagle Center.
