About
About the Practitioner
"All of life comes to me with ease, joy, and glory!"
My name is Gwen Tewold, and I've been a Licensed Massage Therapist since 1998. I consider myself a holistic alternative energy healer. I offer holistic approaches to pain relief and well-being. In my practice, the needs and comfort of the client always come first. I ask for feedback from the client about the massage pressure and their comfort. I do not believe in "no pain, no gain", unless that's what feels right to the client at that time. I have the awareness that the client is the "true healer". I, as the therapist, am facilitating the session based on the needs and expectations of the client, "the healer within". As a former certified public school teacher, my philosophy is to educate my clients with practical information that they can use to help with their own healing, to achieve whatever healing is possible for him/her at that moment.
Healing takes place on many levels, including physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Consequently, my training involves not only the typical therapeutic massage techniques such as Swedish/relaxation, deep tissue, myofascial, but also therapies that go beyond the usual trainings for massage therapists. These therapies include cranial sacral, lymphatic drainage, Muscle Release Technique (repetitive stretching), ion detox foot bath, and Raindrop Therapy/essential oils.
My real love, however, is working with energy healing, using energy-based modalities, which includes BodyTalk, Reiki (Reiki Master), Quantum Touch, Access Consciousness/The Bars (Bars Facilitator), Energy Medicine, Aura-Soma (color therapy), Matrix Energetics.
I LOVE WHAT I DO!!! What a blessing it is for me to be a part of someone's healing and awareness of what can be in their life.
My favorite affirmations (from Access Consciousness modality) are "All of life comes to me with ease, joy, and glory."" What else is possible in your life?" "How does it get any better than that?!"
I look forward to meeting you and helping you to access your "healer within"!

Description of therapeutic services offered in College Station,
This is a brief description of the therapeutic services offered by the therapist:
THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE includes:
Swedish/relaxation massage uses lighter touch techniques to soothe, calm, and relax the central nervous system. Soothing music and rich creams/oils will enhance this experience.
Deep tissue, Myofascial Release, Trigger Point, and Acupressure are different techniques to release restrictions within the fascial (connective tissue) and muscular/skeletal system by manipulation of soft tissue to help balance the central nervous system. They are used to locate and release muscle spasms and hypercontraction in the tissues, to eliminate trigger points that cause referred pain, to restore postural alignment and flexibility to tissues, to assist in venous and lymphatic flow, and to rebuild the strength of injured tissues. They are especially effective for the relief of cervical (neck) pain, back pain, chronic pain, headaches, fibromyalgia, scoliosis, neurological dysfunction, and restriction of motion.
CRANIAL SACRAL THERAPY (CST):
This is a gentle, powerful, hands-on method of detection and correction of the body's fascial (connective tissue) restrictions. CST assists your body's natural healing mechanisms and helps improve your body's internal environment to strengthen its ability to heal itself, which in turn allows for better overall health and resistance to disease.
SOMATIC EMOTIONAL RELEASE (SER):
SER helps to rid the body of destructive emotional patterns held within the body that cause physical pain. This technique is part of cranial sacral therapy and often uses dialoguing to release emotional blocks within the body.
LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE THERAPY (LDT):
This gentle, rhythmical technique stimulates the movement of lymphatic fluids in order to assist the body in cleansing connective tissue of inflammatory materials and toxins. This enhances the activity of the immune system and reduces pain. LDT is especially good for sinus congestion, allergies, headaches, edemas (fluid retention), fatigue, chronic pain, and hydrating the skin (reduces wrinkles).
MINI FACIAL WITH LYMPH DRAINAGE:
This therapy uses the same gentle and relaxing LDT techniques as above, which are applied to the neck and face areas only. Enjoy the relief from congestion and pain in just 15 minutes, and feel wonderfully refreshed!
REIKI
Reiki is a natural system of energy healing, often referred to as "laying on of hands" or "spiritual healing", since it is done by placing the hands on or near the recipient. Energy is the life force of the universe. Reiki treatment enhances the body's natural ability to heal itself by releasing blocked energy, promoting relaxation, reducing stress, and helping to bring the body back into balance. It works throughout the body wherever it is most needed, on the mind, emotions, spiritual essence and aura.
QUANTUM TOUCH
In Quantum Touch, the practitioner uses breath & meditation techniques to raise the vibration of their hands to a very high frequency. When they place their hands in proximity to someone in pain, the client's body will resonate and entrain to the higher frequency in the practioner's hands, enhancing that person's own innate healing ability. Love is the universal vibration that allows people to transfer healing energy from one to another.
ENERGY MEDICINE
Using the principals of Energy Medicine, you can optimize the body's natural ability to heal itself and stay healthy. Energy gives life to the body, and medicine is used to heal or prevent disease. In energy medicine, energy is the medicine and works by balancing the energies of the body gently and easily.
ACCESS CONSCIOUSNESS / THE BARS
Access Consciousness is a set of tools and processes that are designed to facilitate more consciousness for everyone. Consciousness includes everything without judgment. It is the willingness and capacity to be totally aware, totally present in all areas of your life. Consciousness is the ability to continually awaken to more possibility, more choice, and more life. When you acknowledge yourself as an infinite being, ALL things are possible all the time and you have total choice.
The Bars are 32 points on the head. They are the hard drive of your brain's computer bank. It's the "stuff" you've stored for a lifetime. "Running the bars" by touching different points on the head deletes the files that are no longer working for you and begins to dissipate the electrical charge of polarity as it is stored in your brain. It is like activating a computer virus of consciousness that begins to unravel where you are functioning from auto-pilot instead of awareness. The brain waves actually slow down when you get your bars run, allowing behaviorial patterns, belief systems and points of view that you have been running since childhood to be accessed. You start becoming more present in your life, and the past doesn't project into your future the same way. By getting your bars run, you are literally changing the probabilities of future possibilities.
BODYTALK:
BodyTalk is a consciousness-based healthcare tool that taps into and accelerates the body’s natural ability to heal and prevent disease. It is a simple yet powerful way to communicate directly with our bodies, finding out what really lies at the core of our physical or emotional symptoms. Combining modern science with traditional healing methods, BodyTalk gently encourages our systems to reveal what needs to be addressed. Really big changes can be made without having to relive the past or make huge efforts, simply by asking the body what is going on right now. By tapping into the innate healing wisdom within each of us, BodyTalk stimulates recovery, balance and good health on all levels. Discover your body’s wisdom!
AURA-SOMA
As a system, Aura-Soma is a non-intrusive, self-selective color therapy, considered a path to self-understanding, or soul therapy. The word aura means "light" and refers to the facets of colored light within each of us, or the soul's purpose. Soma means "body" or "living energies", which includes the electromagnetic field around the body.
Through a process of selecting Equilibrium bottles from over one hundred color combinations, we can learn the meanings and associations of the colors we choose and offer a mirror to our soul. Each bottle offers the insights and frequencies of color and the energies of plants, herbs, gems, and crystals for our soul work. By working with our chosen bottle(s), we gain a deeper understanding of our needs and gifts to support our life's purpose.
RAINDROP THERAPY
This aromatherapy treatment uses a relaxing, mild massage with no force or excessive pressure to apply essential oils to various areas of your body. Raindrop Therapy brings the body into balance by clearing and re-aligning its energy centers, reducing spinal inflammations, and killing bacteria that hibernate along the spinal column.
ION DETOX FOOT BATH
This relaxing foot bath works through the process of ionization and osmosis, drawing toxins from throughout the body through the soles of the feet. By releasing these toxins, the body is able to return to a neutral PH state, in which, when maintained, illness and disease cannot exist. Enjoy a healing foot bath today!

Where will my massage or bodywork session take place?
Your massage or bodywork session will take place in a warm, comfortable, quiet room. Soft music may be played to help you relax. You will lie on a table especially designed for your comfort.
Must I be completely undressed?
Most massage and bodywork techniques are traditionally performed with the client unclothed; however, it is entirely up to you what you want to wear. You should undress to your level of comfort. You will be properly draped during the entire session.
Will the practitioner be present when I disrobe?
The practitioner will leave the room while you undress, relax onto the table, and cover yourself with a clean sheet.
Will I be covered during the session?
You will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. Only the area being worked on will be exposed.
What parts of my body will be massaged?
A typical full-body session will include work on your back, arms, legs, feet, hands, head, neck, and shoulders.
What will the massage or bodywork feel like?
A relaxing Swedish massage is often a baseline for clients. In a general Swedish massage, your session may start with broad, flowing strokes that will help calm your nervous system and relax exterior muscle tension. As your body becomes relaxed, pressure will gradually be increased to relax specific areas and relieve areas of muscular tension. Often, a cream or lotion is used to allow your muscles to be massaged without causing excessive friction to the skin. This also helps hydrate your skin. You should communicate immediately if you feel any discomfort so that another approach may be taken. Massage and bodywork are most effective when your body is not resisting.
Are there different kinds of massage and bodywork?
There are numerous types of massage and bodywork; various techniques utilize different strokes, including basic rubbing strokes, rocking movement, posture and movement re-education, application of pressure to specific points, and more. We can discuss which methods may be most appropriate for you.
What should I do during the massage or bodywork session?
Prior to the massage, feel free to ask the practitioner any questions about the technique or the upcoming session. During the massage, make yourself comfortable. The practitioner will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session (such as lifting your arm). Many people just close their eyes and completely relax, communicating if/when they need more or less pressure, another blanket, or anything else relevant to the session. If you have any questions regarding the session or about the particular technique you are receiving, feel free to ask.
How will I feel after the massage or bodywork session?
Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days. Since toxins are released from your soft tissues during a massage, it is recommended you drink plenty of water following your massage.
What are the benefits of massage and bodywork?
Massage and bodywork can help release chronic muscular tension and pain, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress, promote faster healing of injured muscular tissue, improve posture, and reduce blood pressure. Massage and bodywork is also known to promote better sleep, improve concentration, reduce anxiety and create an overall sense of well-being.
Are there any medical conditions that would make massage or bodywork inadvisable?
Yes. That's why it's imperative that, before you begin your session, the practitioner asks general health questions. It is very important that you inform the practitioner of any health problems or medications you are taking. If you are under a doctor's care, it is strongly advised that you receive a written recommendation for massage or bodywork prior to any session. Depending on the condition, approval from your doctor may be required.
