About

Offering of Services:

1. Structural Integration (3-Series or 12-Series, each session is 90 minutes)

2. Structural Bodywork (single-sessions, non-series, each session is 60 minutes)

3. Scarwork (addressing scar tissue specifically, sessions can be 60 or 90 minutes)

Structural Integration (SI) is a system of soft-tissue manipulation and movement education designed to:

• Guide the body out of inefficient postural patterning toward a place of balance

• Release strain and “stuckness” in the soft tissue to allow for more movement between fascial layers

• Refine your sense of where you are in space to move with greater fluidity and ease

• Improve and support the sense of being “at home” in your body

In addition to hands-on body-work, Structural Integration is an education process, an intensive course in your body’s structure and your perception of it. We begin with the story—your story– of your body and how it got you where you are today. This is a good thing!

You will be asked to wear minimal clothing so we can do a body read, take reference photos (optional) and perform movement assessments.

We will be communicating throughout the session. At times you will change position from lying on the table to seated on a bench or in standing. You may be asked to walk around the room to give feedback on the work as it progresses. As we work, you will be asked to make small movements (such as pointing your foot or reaching your arm) to increase the effectiveness of the work. Sessions are 90 minutes.

This is a process with a beginning, middle and end. There are two paths to choose from: 3-Series or 12-Series.

3-Series:

3 sessions that focus on 1: feet to pelvis, 2: pelvis to shoulder and 3: head, neck and spine. This can give you a good feel for the work without a large commitment. This is done over several weeks.

12-Series:

12 Sessions with each session focused on one of the Anatomy Trains lines, or myofascial meridians (anatomytrains.com) of the body. This is done over several months, depending on schedules.

IS SI RIGHT FOR YOU?

SI IS OFTEN SUITED FOR:

Postural and structural imbalances

Musculoskeletal issues (non-acute)

Fascial restrictions

Limited range of motion

Improving well-being

SI SHOULD WAIT IF YOU HAVE:

Acute injury/illness

Infection

Recent surgery (less than 6 weeks)

Uncontrolled heart issues

Currently being treated for cancer

Structural Bodywork: For those not interested in the committment of series work a single, "one-of" session can be booked. However, this work is considered structural bodywork only, as benefits of integration take place over time.

Scarwork - based on Sharon Wheeler's approach (sharonwheeler.com) Scarwork is the art of integrating scars into the fascial web. This methodology teaches the practitioner how to coax the fibrous and random tissue to blend in with the established collagen matrix surrounding the site of the scar. This work is gentle, pain-free and can be beneficial prior to series work.
