Services:

May be applied individually or combined during each session per client preference.

Swedish Massage: (relaxation) (light-medium pressure)

A classic massage that uses light-medium pressure with long, flowing strokes and some gentle stretching (optional) to promote relaxation and ease muscle tension.

Deep Tissue Massage: (moderate-deep pressure)

A therapeutic massage that uses a moderate-deep pressure, slower strokes and more direct pressure using thumbs, forearms or elbows to tarket the deeper layers of muscles, tendons and connective tissue. When applied properly, deep tissue massage can also be relaxing.

Trigger Point Therapy: (moderate-deep pressure)

A more focused technique using moderate-deep directly sustained pressure to excessively tense muscles, adjusting the pressure to client's comfort level. It assists in release of tension, restoring normal blood flow and relieving local or referred pain.

What to Expect During a Massage:

Frequentyl asked questions.

Who will be my massage therapist? The business owner, Gina Wollangur, LMT

Where will my massage take place? Your massage or bodywork session will take place in a warm, comfortable, quiet room with soft music playing in the background to help you relax. You will lie on a table especially designed for your comfort.

Must I be completely undressed? You may remain fully dressed or undress to your level of comfort. You will be properly draped under a sheet and blanket during the entire session.

Will the practitioner be present when I undress? No. The practitioner will leave the room while you undress, relax onto the table, and cover yourself with a sheet and blanket.

Will I be covered during the session? You will be properly draped under a sheet at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. Only the area being worked on will be exposed.

What parts of my body will be massaged? You and the practitioner will discuss the desired outcome for each session. This will determine which parts of your body require massage. A typical full body session will include work on your back, arms, legs, feet, hands, head, neck, and shoulders. You will not be touched on or near your genitals (male or female) or breasts (female).

What will the massage feel like? It depends on the techniques used. Many massage therapists use a form of Swedish (relaxing) massage, which is often a baseline for practitioners. In a general Swedish massage, your session may start with broad, flowing strokes that will help calm your nervous system and relax exterior muscle tension. As your body becomes relaxed, pressure may be gradually be increased (if you wish) to relax specific areas and relieve areas of muscular tension. A light lotion is used to allow your muscles to be massaged without causing excessive friction to the skin. The lotion also helps hydrate your skin.

What should I expect during the massage session? Prior to each session, you and the practitioner will discuss your goals, preferences and any concerns you might have. During the session the practitioner will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session (such as lifting your arm). Many people just close their eyes and completely relax, communicating only if/when they want to, if/when they need more or less pressure, another blanket, or anything else relevant to the session. Your comfort is always priority.

Clients are encouraged to immediately communicate any physical or emotional discomfort so that another approach may be taken. Massage and bodywork are most effective when you are calm, feel safe and your body is not resisting.
