About
Claudia has been a licensed massage therapist for over 10 years. G"raduating in 2016 from The Lauterstein-Conway Massage School and Clinic (TLC). In 2017, She attended and graduated from the Advanced Massage Therapy Program at TLC. She has continued to learn and grow continuously, regularly taking classes in clinical and mat-based massage throughout her years as a dedicated massage therapist.
Over the years she has studied many different modalities and styles including Traditional Thai Massage, Shiatsu, Ashiatsu, Deep Massage, Sports, Zero Balancing, Lomilomi, and more. Being drawn to the more therapeutic/clinical work, she earned her 'Orthopedic Massage and Assessment' certification under the instruction of Jason Hammond, LMT, L. Ac and David Lauterstein, massage therapist instructor, and co-founder of The Lauterstein-Conway Massage School and Clinic, Austin, TX. During this same period, she also rediscovered mat-based therapies through a Shiatsu class taught by the late Cindy Anderson, LMT. This was her first real experience with working on a mat practicing a tradition that explored the connection between the physical body and the energetic body as taught in TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine). This was the beginning of her mat-based journey. She has since continued studying under Randy Cummins (Shoshin Shiatsu) of Black Swan Bodywork in Chicago, and Robert Gardner, LMT (Robert Gardner Wellness) and founder of 'Next Level Pain Relief'. Over the years her love for problem-solving and therapeutic work, in conjunction with mat-based therapies has organically evolved into her own personal style - a delicate balance between highly effective, therapeutic techniques, and relaxation, unwinding and grounding. While deeply influenced by the clinical approach of orthopedic massage, working in clinic settings such as chiropractic offices, she was missing a piece of the puzzle. There was a part that didn't quite fit into clinical practice - the heart/soul. She found this missing piece through the amazing teachers she has closely worked with that have dedicated their lives to mat-based work and the founding principles inherent within the practices.
"I never believed that to help someone feel better, I had to be cold and clinical, or that it had to be an unpleasant or painful experience. I believe we need both aspects to help heal our bodies; a little bitter medicine, and lot of compassion and nurturing. I still love all aspects of massage therapy - all styles! All of them have their own unique attributes and great benefits, however, in my experience, there's nothing like mat-based bodywork. It stands on it's own as a whole-body therapy, or as a wonderful, complementary style to add to your regular self-care regimen. As one of my great teachers would say: "We are doing 2D massage in a 3D world! - our work is 3D"".
