BodiThink - Trauma Relief Therapy & pain management.
The BodiThink method is Trauma relief therapy. It is the release of pain on a physical and cellular level. Trauma relief therapy is a combination of techniques that have evolved into a unique method. It has been proven effective with clients who have exhausted all other forms of therapeutic care. Physical pain in all forms are addressed at a muscular, tissue, joint and cellular level. The end result is to reformat the brain (CNS) to release the pattern of injury and remove the pain feedback loop or minimize it significantly.
We begin with calming the Central Nervous System (CNS) and turning off the fight or flight process. Once in a state of rest the release of myofascial restrictions in the connective tissue of the body becomes the focus of the session. While decompressing the joints and stretching the body through traction of the muscles from head to toe.
The overall relief has been compared to -

About The Practitioner
“My training began in the late 1990's in my search for healing to my ailing body.”
My training began in the late 1990's in my search for healing to my ailing body. I was exhausted on all levels & found craniosacral therapy by accident as a last h]ope. In a matter of a few sessions my perspective shifted from hopeless to hopeful. After a few years of receiving personal sessions, I began training with a group taught by Dr. Ron Wish, a healer with an affinity for nature & traveling across Asia. His formal education in technique was under John Upledger. I concluded two levels of training with Dr. Wish for Craniosacral therapy (CST) and Somato-emotional release (SER). Both the introductory & masters course spanned over 5 years with an emphasis on intuitive development.
Once trained in CST/SER I did not leave corporate America for another 15yrs. Working in the pharmaceutical industry afforded me the chance to fly around the world. These 2 worlds (corporate & healing intuition) collided in my heart which left me conflicted & my “less than cheerful attitude” was the result of my leaving the company in 2009.
I was a good employee but I had an immature attitude. An ability to support healing the human body with an “immature nature” is not ideal to growing an honest character of excellence. I thank God for his walk with me to continually maturing my heart, mind & spirit to having a more grateful attitude. That same year ITM was the massage school of choice for western/Swedish (NJ Lic.) & 2015 for the fundamentals of eastern medicine/Shiatsu (NY Lic.)

*Additional information - Re: Passion & Mission, Rose Duhig, LMT
While learning anatomy, physiology & massage, I recalled how the original bodywork I was taught had a profound impact on clients. For some reason I did not take this lightly & I decided or rather wanted to “grow up”. Mature. At the time, I thought that meant emotionally when over a decade later I realize we grow emotionally after we put in the effort to mature spiritually.
Although massage is becoming more relevant in the medical world many facets of bodywork still fall under what is characterized as “new age medicine”. Training or licensing upkeep is usually done in both domains. Before graduating I made a personal commitment to “add” theology or, at the time, it would be more appropriate to say “add the bible” to my life. To me that meant going to church, bible study & attempting fellowship. I had a lot of issues with every step. I had problems with church, staff even how I thought “it should be run”. People would ask me if I had such issues why did I “go to church”. They would ask why do even I go to church. My only answer was “I expect God to show up in my house (heart) - so I show up in his (church “dwelling”). I knew God blessed me with a unique talent & without proper maturity I was concerned “I could be easily led or fooled” into disgracing that gift. In my eyes the bible “held its own for 1000’s of years as truth” & I love discovering truth. An actual relationship with God not yet on any radar. Just the “list” of what to do. Even with all my “issues” my first real pastor had a gift for bible study & then sermons. One of my first church services I remember the pastor asking this question:
What is your passion & what is your mission? He further explained “you get out of bed for a PASSION but your willing to die for your MISSION (ie: missionaries)”.
That stuck with me. Starting out in my practice people were constantly pressuring me “to do everything”…to become successful, make money or the coveted “how to create a money stream without the effort”. All good things to consider but I struggled with either saying “no” or “not feeling guilty about saying no”. During that same time, I had other family concerns at home so saying “yes to all possible opportunities” was going to overwhelm me & or my system. I sat down with the question “what is my passion?”.
Many things came to mind including “making profitable streams of income etc”. Nothing came to mind that would make me “leap out of bed” in the morning. In my old “job” I used to tell myself “if I could just heal/help one person it will be all worthwhile”. In hindsight, I have helped assist many people improve even heal their lives & it’s a wonderful feeling but that is not what pushes me out of bed in the morning. You think it would be more than enough. For whatever reason - it doesn’t'. It feels good but it doesn’t “last”.
I realized it had to be more specific. So I inquired within myself the next question. What is my MISSION in life…what would I die for? I heard or felt clearly - to stop the cycle of abuse. I thought wow that’s a tough one - how would I even begin that effort? I have no military or counseling skills & the thought never occurred to me before that moment. After a little more searching I realized there are so many people “saving lives today” & those people may never “actually stop (completely)” domestic abuse or human trafficking but they do their part & pass the baton. What was my part going to be? I thought what can I do? Walking in the direction of these questions I reflected upon my life.
During my craniosacral training I was told over & over by people that it felt as if I was “holding their heart in my hands”. In that moment, I started to “hear” - “heal the human heart a little bit each day”. Such a simple statement seem to spark a small fire in me. It made me realize…I would get out of bed for that passion. Although I prefer to be more of a morning person i still do not “jump out of bed” at the first alarm. But my heart responds to this statement even if I don’t actively think about it. It’s almost as if it’s original programming. That I never heard running in the background. I don’t really have to pay attention to it. But when days are hard & I have to jump through hoops for someone or something “the program inside my heart” hums louder as if to say - this is your mission. Don’t stop.
Recently I heard the phrase “you don’t look up for your purpose - you pray it down”. I’m praying it down. I pray any ability I have been given is multiplied by the power of Jesus Christ & he continues to reveal to me who I am & where I need to stand. Strengthen my stance to be a spiritual warrior in the fight to stop the cycle of abuse. Use or transform my ability to remove trauma from the body & promote awareness/acceptance of any plague of denial in our world today. Empower me to build an army of godly people to pass the baton of living for others. More of you. Less of me. Let me be an altar for your shining glory & thank you for my life.

~ Shadow Work Therapy ~ (paused 2026)
Shadow therapy is the process which enables a person to distinguish between delusion and reality. When trauma translates into hardened patterns of thought (belief systems) they usually conflict with reality. Anger, anxiety or the feeling of being stuck is not how we are meant to live life. It usually means we are defending something we may not even believe in anymore.
Shadow work is the process in which you are challenged to consider if your belief systems have your best interest at heart. By strengthening your emotional resiliency to function optimally it will encourage your best life moving forward with less resistance.

Shadow work Therapy (advanced somato work) - by BodiThink (services paused 2026)
Shadow work therapy is a strenuous activity requiring a commitment to a fundamental change in your attitude towards life. Everything you believe will be challenged. Professional talk therapy "may be a requirement" in addition to your shadow therapy with BodiThink. Life improvement will depend on your level of willingness to consider change and an effort to formulate where exercises and activities can become applicable in your daily routine. This form of process work was adapted for the most rigid mindset and when rock bottom is too close for comfort.

Carl Jung describes shadow work as the process of bringing the darker parts of our selves into the light.
Shadow is our “beliefs” or belief systems deeply imbedded into our sub-conscience. These belief systems are usually created at a young age in an act of preservation. In our youth they do not create much havoc in our everyday life. As we grow up these belief systems tend to become rigid, one-sided and lack a mature perspective. Our perspective influences our relationships, decisions and create patterns of behavior. When we are having issues in these areas of our life it maybe worthwhile to re-evaluate our deeply held beliefs.

STRESS: A number of people are searching for happiness, even sustained happiness. I have heard the opposite of happiness is stress. Simply put, being in constant stress inhibits the ability to achieve “happiness”. Shadow work is the process of, sitting in the discomfort which makes us “not happy”. Sitting in the discomfort of stress allows an opportunity to observe if the stress is a threat to the body. The brain has a relay system to interpret if outside stimuli are a threat to the body. • If yes (the outside stimuli is a threat), the body goes into stress mode or “fight or flight”. • If no (the outside stimuli is not a threat), the body does not go into stress mode, and there is opportunity for a more emotionally resilient posture towards life. If yes, “fight or flight” has a cascading effect on the body. It increases the performance of bodily functions, from cardiovascular heart rate for running faster to dilated pupils for improved vision. The body is in an optimal position to flee or fight in order to preserve life from the perceived threat. There are several discussions to be had regarding what is a stressor. Whether or not it is a true or a perceived threat to the human body. For now, I would like to stay focused on “stress” and how it deteriorates the body. A prolonged state of fight or flight deteriorates the body. While the opposing mode called “rest and digest” provides relaxation and healing to the body. Having a choice, “fight or flight” or “rest and digest” relies on the brain’s ability to determine what is truly a “stressing threat” to the preservation of the human body. Shadow work therapy builds the capacity to downgrade many stressors from threatening to non-threatening. This ability allows for less of a “stress response” and leave more room for “happiness”. Dissecting this process, one part of the brain is alerted to the stressor but does not make the choice to trip the “fight or flight” mode. Another part of the brain makes the choice based upon “how we think”. If our thoughts are based in reality decisions can be upsetting or fearful but there is an emotional capacity to determine what is a true stressor. When our thoughts are fearful and rigid we have less emotional resilience to maintain a state of rest. We tend to view reality through a prism of our own thoughts, experiences and emotions. We may be making life altering decisions based on fear and rigidity. Fear is the absence of truth. Reality occurs in real time. If we base our decisions regarding stress, in fear, we could be deluding ourselves into believing what we THINK. It is important to discern what is occurring versus what we THINK is occurring. Our emotional state will be influenced if we are observing reality or we are deluding ourselves with our thoughts. Emotional resiliency is the ability to handle an offense during high stress or manage a defense with minimal stress. Shadow work therapy creates emotional stability. Continued effort builds a resilient nature to handle life with less stress. Less stress. Less fight or flight. More reserve to rest and digest healing the body’s natural state to living a ADDICTIONS: We have become “a society” where no one listens anymore. Few people feel heard. Our own pain overrides our desire to listen to another person’s pain or life experience. Comparing or trying to fix the problem with the “power of positive thinking”, leaves the injured party unheard or invalidated. There is a sense of loneliness we try to fill with technology. Avoiding human interaction leads to further anger, frustration and mistrust of others. Instead of dealing with the discomfort we seek “safety” through disconnecting from the perceived negative situations (people, drama, etc). It provides the illusion of safety but results in more loneliness. Reality is life, and life is full of people. People range from Great to Good to Corrupt. One person can have all 3 qualities. Most people - are great or basically good and even a little corrupt. We tend to highlight our goodness to the world and harbor even our minimally corrupt spirits to the shadows where no one can see them. They resurface during our times of loneliness and coax us into behaviors we wouldn’t dream of doing in the light of day. These behaviors may be minor infractions by choice and not demand intervention. When choice becomes compulsion it can hinder opportunities of a bright future. Compulsive drinking, eating, sexual encounters, and even a negative attitude reflect a darker side to the bright and shiny aspects we highlight to the world. Dark aspects of ourselves (shadow) are simply aspects of ourselves that have had little to no outside intervention. Without a mentor or healthy relationship to afford this heavy spirit the opportunity to reanalyze it’s compulsive nature only hardens it. Shadow looms in the experiences of our past we have not reconciled to our current value system. Our ability to minimize corruption of our hearts is based upon our level of integrity. Integrity is the firm adherence to a moral code of conduct. Corruption is the absence of integrity. It is self-satisfying, caring only about ourselves in the belief that no one hears our pain. If we start by listening, the cycle of addictive patterns can change, and our hearts can strengthen with integrity.and happier life.
DRAMA / TRAUMA: When trauma translates into hardened patterns of thought (belief systems) they usually conflict with reality. Reality is what is occurring in real time. When belief systems and reality conflict, the resulting behavior is drama. To remove drama from your life you need to address the belief systems and confirm they are in sync with reality. Align reality to your belief system and drama is replaced with truth and authenticity.

BELIEF SYSTEMS: Beliefs are created when we are unable to cope with a life experience. We create a story or narrative to deal with the perceived fear before us during the specific event. This event is usually seen through the eyes of a child. The narrative may or may not have any relevant facts correlating to the actual event. It may emotionally handicap the individual based upon the creative narration of the story. If not challenged or quantified as truth it can become a deeply held belief. That belief could have been created at 9 years old and un-vetted for 20yrs is making decisions in your adult life. The obvious question being “do you really want to be living the life through the eyes of a 9yr old”? When a belief system created at 9yrs old embeds into the subconscious it “shadows” us with the added intention of “helping us” in the course of our life. Neatly tucked into our subconscious this shadow “piece” is “created/born” at 9yrs old and remains 9yrs old. As we mature and age, the deeply held belief becomes an angry voice in our head or just a lot of noise to distract us from life. The best way to quiet our mind is to process and untangle the deeply held belief from the shadows of our subconscious mind. The subconscious is brought to the forefront of our conscious or “into the light”. There it is more available to be reviewed with less judgment and resistance. In a brighter (more lit) environment we are able to view the information (behavior/pattern) with minimal stress and choose to let go. Sometimes we don’t let go. That is a choice. This behavior/pattern was created to protect our emotional and mental state during a time of crisis (real or perceived). We should be respectful to the aspects of ourselves that held the belief which created the pattern. Those parts or aspects of ourselves gave “of themselves” to protect us so we could continue living how we wanted - at that time. We may not want to live “that life” anymore. Before we can shed the parts that no longer serve us we need to reflect on how these beliefs did serve us with gratitude. Disrespecting ourselves, even parts of our self, never turns out well. Shadow work provides the platform to respect, review and release the deeply held beliefs that no longer serve us
