About
My Approach
My goal for each session is to help connect you to your body. Whatever your needs are at this moment in time, I believe restoring communication between brain and body is key to creating lasting change.
Curiosity is embraced here. My deep fascination for the complex interrelationship between mind & body drew me to this work. Part of my partnership with you, as I see it, is sharing my knowledge to assist you on your journey toward healing.
True transformation comes with a heavy dose of empowerment. You are an active participant in your own wellbeing. My commitment to you is to create a safe space to enable you to feel better and find more peace in your body, though your work outside the session will extend the lasting effects of this work.
My Story
I sought out bodywork out of necessity. As a surprise to me, it changed my life.
In my late twenties, I experienced a traumatic brain injury that took me by surprise and set into motion a new path for me. Fascinated by the interconnected nature of mind and body, and overcome by how ephemeral our lives here on this planet are in the scheme of things, I discovered the healing arts. Bodywork helped me move into the present, connect to my body, and deepen my perception and intuition. It helped me heal on a more profound and lasting level than other forms of therapies. My hope for you, and all my clients, is to assist you on your journey toward healing.
Outside of this work, I am a freelance brand strategy director: a creative problem solver and experienced researcher who connects dots and helps ground communication in truth. I love yoga and mindful movement, hiking and soaking up nature, reading all kinds of things (from Oliver Sacks and Vonnegut to trauma theories), navigating the complexities of these modern times and being present for the people in my life.
My Training
Over the past 5 years I have trained in Acupressure, Shiatsu, Deep Tissue, and Swedish massage at McKinnon Body Therapy Center in Oakland, and CranioSacral Therapy with The Upledger Institute in Sedona and Asheville. I am able to provide trauma-informed massage to those who may need it, and welcome individuals who experience anxiety, depression, PTSD and other forms of mental illness. I volunteer massage therapy at a holistic clinic for low income women with cancer--and strongly believe an integrative approach to wellness is important and should be accessible to those in need.
