Maureen Ward

My name is Maureen Ward, and I've been a Licensed Massage Therapist since 2012. 

I trained (and then taught) at The Cortiva Institute in Federal Way, WA, and am a former Adunct Instructor at The Cortiva Institute in Federay Way, WA and Cromwell, CT.

I am self-employed as the owner of Unwind Muscular Therapy in Centerbrook, CT,  and serve the Company of Actors in the position of PPT (Preventive Physical Therapy) located at the Goodspeed Opera House for Goodspeed Musicals in East Haddam, CT. I primarily work in medical massage, but also use Swedish, CST, NMT, MLD, Cupping,  and have training/experience in Trauma massage, massage for Special Needs Chidren, Amputees, as well as Auto-Immune pathologies, Hospice and Oncology massage. I also do pre-natal and post-natal massage. I have worked in Chiropractic clinics as well as in the hospital setting at Madigan Army Medical Center at Joint Base Lewis McChord in the Pacific Northwest. There I worked providing medical massage to Wounded Warriors in an Interdisciplinary Pain Clinic setting. I have worked Oncology massage in both Infusion Centers (for the patients) and for the nurses and doctors treating cancer patients. I have taught Professional Ethics & Communication (level 1 & 2), Population Spectrum, Business 1 & 2, Pathology, Kinesiology, Clinical Foundations and charting, and the required WA state HIV/Aids Awarness training.I am certified in CPR & First Aid with the Red Cross, and I am a Reiki Level 2 Practitioner as well.  I believe the body knows how to and wants to heal itself as it ALWAYS wants to be in homeostasis. Massage is the best self care there is; it promotes body awareness, healing, overall good health and well-being.
