Greetings:  I'm a somatic bodyworker.  I practice the Danis Bois Method, a French technqiue that evolved from osteopathy and sensory perception research in the 1980s.  This is a gentle, compassionate touch therapy that aims to meet the whole person at a profound level.  Following a tide movement, similar to the cranial rhythmic impuse, the practitioner's job it to cultivate conditions that enable the client to perceive and learn from this inner movement, with precision.  The ultimate objective is personal transformation through deepened, embodied intimacy with self.  Perceptual attunement through embodied experience is our medium for touching into self.  

I also practice Kathy Kain's Somatic Practice.  This too is a gentle, compassionate touch approach.  Here the focus is safety: it's about cultivating the safety conditions that support the self-regulation of one's neuochemistry (i.e., supporting balanced heart rates, adrenaline or cortisol release, etc.), such that depression, shutting down, or anxiety/hyperarousal are managed at a neurochemical level.  By attuning to the person's autonomic nervous system through touch, we can support physiological shifts that may benefit behavioral choices and patterns.
