Amelia Houlihan

Amelia’s desire to pursue massage therapy began in high school, when one of her dance teachers started incorporating anatomy lessons into her classes. These lessons helped Amelia visualize muscular movements and made her training more intentional and functional. Her experience prompted her to study dance and exercise science at the University of South Carolina.

Throughout her dance career, Amelia sustained various lower extremity injuries that prompted her to seek help from chiropractic care and massage therapy. This was the first place where she found real healing for her injuries and she fell in love with the holistic, hands on, and personal approach the practitioners utilized. Not only did she experience faster recovery from her injuries, but she walked away feeling equipped with tools to maintain a healthy body in the future.

Amelia graduated from USC in 2020 with a BA in Dance Performance and Choreography, a minor in Business, and adjunct studies in Exercise Science. However, she knew that there was more to learn about injury prevention/recovery and functional movement, so she attended Georgia Massage School to obtain her certification and licensure in 2021. Her goal as a therapist is to assist the body in its healing process, recognizing that each aspect of the body is made to work in perfect harmony to support the entire human person. She is excited to be working with the Alliance Sports Medicine team, who actively create care plans that serve their patients in this way.
