Traditional Thai massage is an ancient healing art that has been practiced for over 2,500 years.  Due to Thailand's location, this modality combines influences from Ayurvedic medicine in India, Classical Chinese Medicine, and the country's own indigenous and modern medical practices.  The founder of Traditional Thai Medicine was the personal physician to the Buddha, and for this reason, Buddhist medical philosophy is another heavy influence.

This modality is performed on a floor mat with the client wearing loose comfortable clothing (gym shorts, yoga pants, etc.).  The practitioner passively guides the client's body through Yoga-like stretches and performs deep compressions to the tissues in a rhythmical fashion.  This assists in relaxing the muscles and the nervous system, releasing tension in both body and mind.  Chronic pain (especially when coupled with chronic stress), sports injuries, and soft tissue pain that doesn't seem to go away from other treatments tend to be greatly relieved with Thai massage.
