About

Welcome to my Website!

I have been a professional massage therapist since 1997, and I love what I do.

I am celebrating my 29 year MASSAGE-A-VERSARY in 2026!

I am well-trained in NeuroMuscular therapy, Trigger Point Therapy, Swedish massage, and 'deep tissue' massage as well as Shiatsu (Japanese acupressure). I am also a H.A.R.T. Method pracitioner.

I am married and have a son. I enjoy movies, Pilates, Kaiut Method Yoga, hiking, reading (although I start books and often don't finish them) and cooking/baking. Ask me about weighted hula hooping! I also enjoy dressing up in costumes (especially Star Wars and superhero characters).

In 2022-2023, I trained in Structural Integration (also known as Rolfing). That amazing work became a stepping stone for me. In 2024, I was feeling very burned out and discovered a yoga class in the Kaiut Method while visiting a friend in Colorado. Kaiut Yoga balances the nervous system and supports the tissues of the joints. It is a way to continue aging well. Now I am trained in that! Stay tuned for future classes and/or 1:1 sessions in this transformative method.

If you’d like to make an appointment with me at my home office, send me a message. I will email, text or call you back, offer you a list of available appointment times and answer any questions.

*Please note, I am taking new clients at my discretion, if my schedule will allow.*

Don't be comfortable with your discomfort. Make an appointment to take care of yourself today!

I don't offer online booking. I keep a running list of available appt times. A brief email or text exchange typically gets us on each other's calendars without much fuss.

I typically see clients M-F, by appointment only. With some exception, evenings are already spoken for by my long-term 'regular' clients. If you are new to me and need an evening or weekend appt, I'm not your gal. Keep in mind that I may be in a session, or watching a superhero movie, so please give me some time to get back to you.

Regarding Covid-19 and other illnesses, if you'd like me to wear a mask, I am happy to! Also, if you're feeling under the weather, let's communicate about potentially rescheduling if you don't feel up to receiving a massage or wearing a mask. Massage with a fever is a complete contraindication (for both you and me)!

I graduated cum laude from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN. I planned on going to graduate school for dance/movement therapy, but was side-tracked by a car accident that led me to receive massage therapy for my injuries.

After bodywork sessions diminished my pain, I quickly decided to pursue a career in massage. I initially attended a 600-hour program at Northern Lights School of Massage Therapy in 1997 (now known as CenterPoint). I immediately followed that with a certification in NeuroMuscular Therapy (with Judith Delany). I also have training in Connective Tissue Massage and Structural Integration with Rolfer John Latz. I was an instructor in the therapeutic massage department at CenterPoint (which unfortunately closed after being in business from 2001-2020), and do numerous continuing education hours each year. I am Board Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (BCTMB) and Licensed with the City of Minneapolis (a requirement as of July 1, 2014).

WHAT IS STRUCTURAL INTEGRATION?

In 2022-2023 I took a series of intense classes in Structural Integration with John Latz (you may know of this as Rolfing). Ida Rolf was a bio-chemist who created a system to align the body within the gravitational and electromagnetic fields of the earth by working with only the fascia. Fascia, or connective tissue, encompasses all of the white stuff in the body. (Muscle is the red stuff encased within the fascia. Internal organs are also surrounded and supported by fascia.) You may have heard this is painful, but it needn't be. It can be challenging, yes, but working with a skillful and trusted practitioner can be life-changing. What if the last time you had to feel one of your pain/tension patterns was as it finally journeyed out of your body? Trauma also resides within the fascial web, as do the acupuncture meridians.

***Instead of using this labor-intensive and expensive method to release your fascial habits and restrictions, I now recommend the Kaiut Yoga Method instead. The Method words with your brain's neuroplasticity to help you re-discover what you've lost and continue to age without further impact to your mobility. However, you must be willing to do the work. It's like a hygiene practice for your joints; to clean up restrictions created by habits, repetitive use, trauma and surgery. For example: You got a knee replacement, but your body still contains the tension patterns that wore the knee incorrectly. The Kaiut Yoga Method takes those patterns out!***

The Kaiut Yoga Method and Structural Integration align and balance the body by eliminating shortness in the fascia. As fascia is lengthened it allows the muscles and organs encased within it to work more efficiently. When restricted fascia is released, the body can return to its structurally optimal position. The effects of gravity, the stress of daily activities, physical injuries and other traumas can pull the body out of alignment. The fascia gradually shortens, tightens and adjusts to accommodate the misalignment. When the body is out of alignment it creates inefficiency and imbalance resulting in stiffness, discomfort and loss of energy.
